Our long and successful history

Established in 1874, 'The Rose' remains the social hub in the village of Erskineville. This art deco corner boozer was infused with cool contemporary charm by current owners the Leach Family in 2000 during substantial renovations. Described as one of the top 10 local pubs in Australia by FHM magazine; the classic island bar & bottleshop remain with the additional of an award winning restaurant, cocktail bar and function facilities.

A popular haunt for celebrities, journalists and politicians as well as the eclectic mix of Erskineville locals. The hotel remains famous for its food and cocktails with a tradition of entertaining bar banter. The 'Rose' was a winner of the Australian Hotels Association top award for 'Hotel of the Year'.

The Renovations

In the coming months the Rose of Australia Hotel will undergo extensive renovations, keeping the heritage alive and bringing a new feel to an old classic.
